1. Contact a Participating Contractor
Summerhill Impact works with over 1,300 heating and cooling contractors to deliver the Switch the 'Stat program. Find a participating contractor near you.

2. Switch to a new programmable thermostat
Financial incentives and rebates for switching to programmable thermostats are available year-round for home and business owners. Newer programmable thermostats can cost between $70 and $300 but there is no cost to participate in Switch the 'Stat and ensure the collection, transportation, and safe disposal of the older mercury-containing thermostats.

3. Give your old mercury-containing thermostat to your contractor for responsible disposal
If you choose to replace your thermostat on your own, you can still contact any Participating Contractor or Participating Wholesaler in your area to drop off your mercury-containing thermostat for safe disposal.

1. Fill in the Registration Form

2. Summerhill Impact will send you a collection container and a pre-paid return Purolator waybill.

3. Bring the collection container with you on jobs. When you replace old thermostats with new programmable thermostats, place the old, intact mercury thermostat in the collection container.

4. When the container is full, or when you are requested to send it in, call Purolator and ship the container using the pre-paid waybill.
