Program Results

• Since the program began in April 2006, Switch the 'Stat has recovered over 32,000 mercury-containing thermostats, which contained over 46,000 mercury switches. These switches represent the safe recovery of more than 116 kilograms of mercury.
• Just one gram of mercury is enough to contaminate an eight hectare lake
• More than 1,330 heating and cooling contractors and wholesalers are registered program participants.
